Goode Encouraged by Early Fundraising

95% of Contributions Come from Hoosiers

Terre Haute, IN -- Greg Goode, a Republican candidate for the 8th congressional district of Indiana, has raised over $50,000 in total receipts in just two months of part-time campaigning. Goode, who has been an administrator at Indiana State University ("ISU") for the past five years, announced his candidacy August 1, 2007, but remained in his position at ISU through September 30th.

"I am overwhelmed and humbled by this outpouring of support in such a short amount of time. As we enter a new phase of campaigning nearly full-time, I am encouraged by the strong foundation we have to build from," said Goode.

Additional details:

  • Over 95% of the individuals contributing live within Indiana. According to available Federal Election Commission data, no candidate for the 8th congressional district has ever had such a high percentage of in-state support.
  • Goode managed to raise over $50,000 in just sixty days of part-time campaigning.
  • All but one contribution came from individuals, with the other contribution coming from a political action committee.

Goode’s strong showing of fundraising support within Indiana mirrors unprecedented unity in the 8th district race. In September the 8th District Republican Committee - made up of county chairmen in the district - unanimously endorsed Greg Goode for Congress. Later the Indiana Republican Party invoked "Rule 11" in support of Goode, a rare step which permits the state party to endorse candidates before the primary.
