Greg Goode Makes Run For Indiana Eighth Official

INDIANAPOLIS—Greg Goode today filed with the Indiana Secretary of State to run in the Republican primary for the Eighth District Congressional seat currently occupied by Brad Ellsworth (D-Evansville).

“The year 2008 will one day be regarded as one of the most pivotal political years of our nation’s history, as important as 1776, 1860, 1941, and 1980,” said Goode.  “My decision to run for United States Congress is not to further the advancement of any political party, but for the advancement of ideas that will establish a new covenant for the conservative movement.”

Goode resigned his position as chief public and government affairs officer with Indiana State University last September in order to fully focus on the congressional campaign.

A Terre Haute South Vigo High School graduate, Goode also has two degrees from ISU and is working toward a doctorate from Virginia Tech University in public administration and policy.

Goode was at ISU from 2002 until 2007. Immediately prior to that he served as Chief of Staff for former Congressman Brian Kerns from 2000 to 2001.  From 1996 until 2000, Goode worked as one of former Congressman Ed Pease’s aides with a focus on National Security, Transportation and Education. Goode personally assisted Pease during the House Impeachment hearings against former President Bill Clinton.

A self-described social and fiscal conservative, Goode supports Indiana Right to Life and is a life-member of the Gun-Owners of America and belongs to the National Rifle Association.

A deacon at First Baptist Church of Terre Haute, Goode is also a Freemason at Terre Haute’s Social Lodge No. 86, and belongs to the Wabash Valley Scottish Rite and Zorah Shrine.

Goode belongs to the local Kiwanis Club and serves on the board of Terre Haute Regional Hospital.

He and his wife, Leslie, have a two-year-old son, Jackson.
